What Rendered
The image model abandoned the prompt and gave us the mythologically correct Uktena card. The Uktena itself dominates the entire composition — an enormous feathered and scaled serpent-dragon, coiling upward in a great spiral, scales in overlapping geometric patterns of green, gold, and amber, head enormous with a wide jaw rendered in Northwest Coast formline style. At the Uktena’s forehead: the Ulunsu’ti crystal blazing, a pure white-crystal point erupting into the storm above, detonating into a sunburst of light and lightning. The rider is a Two-Spirit or androgynous figure — bare-chested, long hair streaming, wearing feathered regalia that matches the Uktena’s own feathered scales, the boundary between rider and serpent deliberately unclear. Arms spread wide, head thrown back, face upturned in ecstasy. Below: four or five smaller Uktena serpents winding through a river landscape, heads raised toward the great one above. The border: simple gold spiral patterns at the corners, a quiet frame for an overwhelming image.
Cosmological Teaching
In Cherokee tradition, the Uktena is explicitly unapproachable — merely to see it is dangerous, to be breathed on by it is death, to look directly at the Ulunsu’ti is to fall into a trance. The Lust card rewrites this mythology deliberately: what if the Uktena is not killed but ridden? The feathered regalia matching the serpent’s scales is the visual statement of this alignment: the rider has become sufficiently serpentine to be carried rather than consumed. The Uktena with feathered scales connects to the feathered serpent that appears across the Americas — Quetzalcoatl, the Underwater Panther’s aerial counterpart, various serpentine figures — not cultural borrowing but deep structure: the serpent combining earth (scales, water, the below) with sky (feathers, lightning, the above). The arms spread wide and head thrown back in ecstasy is not recklessness but specific technique. Ecstasy is the only state from which the great powers can be worked with rather than against.
Initiatory Meaning
A.’.A.’. current: The 19th Path from Chesed to Geburah. In Crowley’s framing, the union of Babalon and the Beast. In Na-Dené terms: the Uktena is the Beast, one of the oldest incarnations of the great serpentine force that underlies all living power. The Two-Spirit rider is Babalon in Indigenous form — the sacred androgyne who has made themselves sufficiently both-things to partner with the both-thing serpent. Teth is the serpent letter — one of the few Hebrew letters whose name directly encodes a serpent. The initiatory work: develop sufficient relationship with this power to look at the Ulunsu’ti without falling into the trance.
OTO/EGC current: The Gnostic Mass in its most primal expression — not the ceremony at the altar but the reality the ceremony enacts. The EGC current is the Uktena current made ceremonially manageable for congregational practice.
Divination Meanings
Upright / Well-Dignified: A great force has come into range. The question is not whether you will encounter it but whether you are sufficiently aligned with its nature to ride it rather than be consumed. The ecstatic posture — arms wide, head back — is the prescription, not the result. What in your life right now is too large for strategy? Approach it in ecstasy.

Reversed / Ill-Dignified: The Uktena approached with strategy and ego, therefore consuming rather than carrying. Or the encounter avoided entirely — which means the Uktena will come on its own schedule. You may be using force where ecstasy is required.
